A progress report is a child's report card for a period: one short narrative per developmental domain, written from the milestone observations your teachers recorded, plus an overall summary. NestliCare drafts the first version from the observations; a teacher edits it; an admin signs it off; then the family can read it in the parent app and save it as a PDF.

Nothing reaches a family until an admin publishes it.

## Where it lives

- **Web:** Curriculum → **Reports**, and each child's Documents panel has a **Progress reports** section.
- **Phone:** Admin → Curriculum → **Progress reports**; teachers reach the same list from the report button on their Observations list.
- **Parents** see published reports under their child's records in the parent app, and get a notification when one is published.

## Write one

1. Open **Reports** and tap **New report**.
2. Pick the child and the period. Three months to today is the default; a term or a half-year both work.
3. Tap **Draft from observations**. NestliCare reads every observation recorded for that child in the period and writes one section per domain that has observations, citing the observations each section was written from. Domains with nothing recorded get no section, on purpose: the report says only what your teachers saw.

If the child has no observations in the period, you'll be told so. Log observations first (Quick log drafts them from a note when a child shows a skill), or tap **Start blank** and write the report by hand.

4. Read every section and edit it. This is a first draft written for you to change, not a finished report. You can add sections, rewrite any narrative, and re-draft with a note about what to emphasise.
5. Teachers tap **Submit for review**. Admins see it under **In review**.
6. An admin reads it and taps **Publish**. That is the sign-off: the report becomes visible to the family, the family is notified, and the PDF carries "Reviewed and signed off by" with the admin's name and the date.

## What the draft will and won't say

- It writes only from recorded observations. If an observation isn't there, the report doesn't claim it.
- Where a teacher recorded a level (emerging, developing, proficient, mastered), the draft may say a skill is emerging, developing or established. It never invents a level.
- It never diagnoses, never compares a child to other children, never predicts, and never gives the family advice. If you want any of that in a report, it's yours to write.
- Each section shows how many observations stand behind it. Fewer than two or three is a sign to observe more before publishing.

## Changing a published report

A published report is read-only. An admin can **Return to draft**, which hides it from the family immediately; edit it; then publish it again. The family is notified again on the second publish.

## Who can do what

- **Teachers** create, draft, edit and submit their own reports, and can delete their own drafts.
- **Admins** can edit any report, publish, return to draft, and delete.
- **Parents** can read and save published reports for their own children. They cannot see drafts or reports in review.
