Because teachers only see children in the rooms they are assigned to. When a teacher opens the app and a child (or every child) is missing, it is a room assignment issue, not a data loss:

1. **Is the teacher assigned to the room?** Open them under **Staff** and check their **Home Room**, or assign them from the room's card. A brand-new teacher with no room sees no children at all.
2. **Is the child enrolled in that room?** Check the child's enrollment on the family card. A child mid-move between rooms, or with a withdrawn enrollment, drops off the room's list.
3. **Did it just change?** Room changes take effect the next time the teacher opens the app; a quick close-and-reopen picks them up.

Floaters who cover several rooms can be assigned to more than one.
