"Show me the infant room on March 3" is the question a licensing visit actually asks. The Room Day Log answers it: for one day and one room (or every room at a center), a timestamped log of who came in, who left, who was moved in or out and why, which staff were covering, and the staff-to-child ratio in every stretch between those events.

## Run it

1. **Reports → Room Day Log**.
2. Pick the **day** (one date; it defaults to today) and, optionally, a center and a room. With no room picked you get one section per room.
3. Print or export from the masthead like any other report.

Times are shown in the center's own timezone, and it says so under the stat cards.

## What's in it

**Stat cards** — rooms in the report, rooms that were over ratio at any point, total minutes over ratio, and rooms with no ratio configured (a room without a ratio cannot be measured; set one under Rooms → Edit).

**Per room, an event log** — one row per event, in time order:

- **Arrived / Left** — a check-in or check-out in this room.
- **Moved in / Moved out** — a [room move](/owners/centers/move-a-child-for-the-day), with the other room, the reason ("Ratio", "Nap", …) and who did it.
- **Clocked in / Clocked out** — staff presence.
- **Covering from / Left to cover** — a staff room move; the floater who took this room over lunch appears here with the room they came from.

**Per room, a ratio timeline** — every stretch between two events, with children here, staff here, and the ratio. Stretches over the room's ratio are tinted red; a stretch with children and no staff reads "no staff". If the day is still going, the last stretch ends at "now".

## How the ratio is reconstructed

The report cuts every person's day into room segments. A child checked in at 7:00 to Sunflowers and moved to Butterflies at 12:00 counts in Sunflowers from 7:00 to 12:00 and in Butterflies from 12:00 until check-out. Staff are placed by their schedule room for the day, else their home room, and re-placed by any staff move. Only presence counts: a child marked absent or a staff member who never clocked in is not in any room.

The log is as good as the day's records. A child who was moved physically but not in NestliCare shows in the wrong room; a teacher who covered a room without a staff move does not count there. Room Mode tablets and the Move buttons exist so that recording the move costs one tap.
