The activity logger comes with a fixed set of tiles (Nap, Diaper, Bottle, Art, Outdoor, and so on). If your program does something the list doesn't name, such as Music and Movement, Sensory Bin, or Spanish Circle, you can add a tile for it with its own name and emoji. Teachers pick it like any other tile, and parents see the emoji and the name in the feed.

Activity tiles are managed on the web dashboard by an owner or admin. Teachers see the result everywhere they log: the web logger, the app, and the room tablet.

## Add a tile

1. On the web dashboard, open **Settings** in the sidebar.
2. Open the **Operations** tab.
3. Find the **Activity tiles** card and click **Add a tile**.
4. Pick an emoji from the row, or type any emoji from your keyboard into the small box (on a Mac, press Control + Command + Space to open the emoji picker; on Windows, press the Windows key + period).
5. Type the tile name, up to 40 characters, for example **Music and Movement**.
6. Click **Add tile**.

The tile appears in the logger's main grid right after the built-in tiles. Teachers on the web see it the next time they open the logger; the apps pick it up the next time they open.

## Rename a tile or change its emoji

1. In the **Activity tiles** card, click the pencil next to the tile.
2. Change the emoji or the name.
3. Click the check mark to save.

Entries already logged from the tile take the new emoji right away, since the feed reads the tile, not a copy. The name on older entries stays as it was when they were logged.

## Reorder tiles

Use the up and down arrows next to each tile. The order here is the order teachers see in the logger.

## Remove a tile

Click the trash icon next to the tile and confirm.

- If nobody has logged from the tile yet, it is deleted.
- If entries exist, the tile is moved to **Removed tiles** at the bottom of the card. Those entries keep their emoji in the feed, and you can click the tile there to restore it to the logger.

## Hide built-in tiles

If your program never logs, say, Tummy Time or Speech therapy, you can take those tiles out of the logger:

1. In the **Activity tiles** card, click **Choose** next to **Built-in tiles**.
2. Click a tile to hide it (it shows crossed out). Click again to show it.
3. Click **Done** when you are finished.

Hiding a tile only removes it from the pickers. Anything already logged with that type still shows in the feed and in reports.

## How a custom tile shows up

- **Web logger, app, and room tablet:** the tile appears in the main grid with its emoji and name.
- **Parent feed:** the entry shows the tile's emoji and name as the title, plus any note and photos the teacher added.
- **Daily activities page:** you can filter by a custom tile the same way you filter by a built-in type.
- **Older app versions:** an app that has not been updated shows the entry with the star Activity emoji and the tile's name. Nothing is lost; the emoji catches up once the app updates.

## Frequently asked

**Can I change the emoji or name of a built-in tile like Nap or Art?**
Not yet. Today you can hide built-in tiles and add your own. If you want a different name or emoji for something the built-in list covers, hide the built-in tile and add your own with the name you prefer.

**Can teachers add tiles?**
No. Tiles are managed by owners and admins in Settings, so the whole center logs the same way.

**Is there a limit?**
Up to 30 custom tiles per organization, and each name is limited to 40 characters.
