Some state subsidy programs want signed sign-in/sign-out records: proof that a parent, not just a device, recorded each arrival and departure. NestliCare can collect that signature right on your check-in kiosk and store it with the attendance record.

The setting is off by default. If nobody asks you for signed SISO records, you can leave it off and check-in works exactly as before.

## Turn it on

1. Go to **Settings → Operations**.
2. Find the **Check-in Methods** panel.
3. Turn on **Signature at Check-in (SISO)**.

You can also flip it from the mobile app under **Admin → Settings → Check-in Methods**.

<Callout kind="warning" title="Update your kiosk tablets first">
A tablet running an older version of the NestliCare app cannot show the signature screen, so its check-ins would be refused. Update the app on your kiosk tablets before turning this on. Web kiosks are always current.
</Callout>

## What parents see

When a parent enters their pickup code at the kiosk and taps **Check in** or **Check out**, a signature screen appears. They sign with a finger and tap **Confirm**, and the check-in completes.

**One signature covers the whole visit.** A parent checking in two children signs once, not once per child. The same signature also covers the check-out button if they use it in the same session. The next family always signs fresh.

## What staff see

Nothing changes for staff. Teachers and admins checking children in from the dashboard are never asked to sign, and staff scanning the code to clock in are never asked either. The signature exists to capture the parent's attestation; staff are already signed-in users.

## Where the signatures go

Each signature is stored with the day's attendance record. On the **Attendance** page, records that carry one show a small **Signed** pill next to the child's name — click it to see the drawn signature for the check-in and the check-out, with times.

## Phone scanning

Today the signature is collected at the kiosk (tablet or web). Parents who check in by scanning the QR poster with their own phone are not yet asked to sign — the parent app gains its signature step in an upcoming release. If your subsidy program requires a signature for every record, run check-in through the kiosk until then.

## Troubleshooting

**The kiosk says a signature is required but shows no signature screen.** That tablet is on an older app version. Update the NestliCare app on it.

**A parent signed for check-in — do they sign again at pickup?** Only if it's a new visit. Within the same kiosk session one signature covers everything; after the kiosk resets to the keypad, the next action asks again.
