The **Training Register** (under **Staff & Time → Staff → Training**) tracks the courses your team takes, who has completed what, which certifications are coming due, and how many training hours each person has logged this year. Training is a pill inside the Staff tab, next to Staff list and Inductions. Once you're there it has four tabs: **Courses, Records, Compliance, and Hours**.

## Courses

The **Courses** tab lists the training you offer or require, like first aid and CPR. Each course has a category, a provider, a length in hours, and an optional renewal period.

- **Length (hours)** is credited toward the annual hours total whenever a completion of that course is logged. You can override the hours on an individual record.
- **Renewal period** sets the expiry date on new completions automatically, so a two-year CPR card logged today expires two years from today.
- **Required** courses appear on the Compliance tab. Leave a course unmarked if only some staff need it.

New organizations start with a **starter set** of the courses licensing visits ask about in their country, none marked required. If your list is empty, click **Add starter courses**; if it isn't, **Add starter set** adds only the ones you don't already have. Then mark the ones your license requires.

## Records

The **Records** tab is who has completed which course, and when. Click **Log Training** to record a completion for anyone: pick the staff member and course, enter the completion date, adjust the hours if needed, and attach the certificate as a PDF or a photo. Leave the expiry blank to let the course's renewal period set it.

Staff can also log their own completions from their dashboard (see below). Those arrive here marked **Pending review** with a badge on the tab. Click **Approve** to accept one, or **Decline** and give a reason the staff member will see. Only approved records count toward compliance and hours.

## Compliance

The **Compliance** tab is a grid of every active staff member against every required course: current, renewal due within 30 days, expired, or missing. Each course shows the share of staff who are current. Expiring certifications also appear on your dashboard's Needs Attention list.

## Hours

The **Hours** tab totals each person's approved training hours for a calendar year. Set your **annual requirement** (the number of hours your licensing rules require per staff member per year) and every row shows a progress bar and how many hours are still needed. Hours awaiting approval are shown separately. **Export CSV** gives you the table for a licensing file.

## Reminders

When a certification is 30, 14, or 7 days from expiring, and on the day it expires, admins get one summary notification and the staff member gets their own reminder. A certification that has already been renewed (a newer completion of the same course) is not reminded about.

## Staff: your own training

Staff members see **Training** on their dashboard (web, iOS, and Android). It shows their hours against this year's requirement, every record with its status, and a **Log training** button. What they log is sent to an admin for review and counts once it is approved. A declined record shows the admin's reason so it can be corrected and logged again.

## Credentials on the staff profile

Each staff profile has a **Credentials** section for education, the primary credential or license with its number and expiry date, and early childhood credit hours. An expiring credential gets the same red and amber badges as documents and training.

<Callout kind="tip" title="Why this matters">
Licensing visits often start with staff certifications and annual training hours. Keeping the Training Register current means you can answer "is everyone trained and up to date?" in seconds, and hand over the hours export instead of a binder.
