A name-to-face check is a headcount where you look at each child, say their name, and confirm they are actually in front of you. Most state licensing rules expect one at every transition (arrival, leaving for the playground, coming back inside, before and after nap, loading a bus) and many centers run one on a fixed rhythm on top of that. NestliCare saves each check as a timestamped record with who ran it, which room, and how many children were expected versus confirmed.

## Run one

1. Open **Log Activity** (on the web dashboard it is the **Log Activity** card; in the app it is the **Log Activity** quick action or the logger inside Room Mode).
2. Tap **More Activities** (web) or **More Types** (app) and choose **Name to Face**.
3. The roster narrows to the children **checked in right now**. There is no Select All here on purpose: tap each child as you see them.
4. Watch the counter under the roster: it reads *3 of 4 confirmed · 1 not yet accounted for* until every child has been tapped, then *All 4 confirmed*.
5. Optional: add a note for anyone you could not confirm ("Ella is in the office with Ms. Lee").
6. Tap **Save Check**.

The check lands in the room feed as one card, for example *Name to face · 3 of 4 children confirmed · Ella is in the office with Ms. Lee*, with your name and the time.

## Who sees it

**Share with parents** switches off automatically when you pick Name to Face. It is a compliance record for staff and admins, not a moment for the parent feed. You can switch it back on for a single check if you want to, but nothing pushes to parents by default.

## Fix a mistake

Saved a check with the wrong children? Open the room feed, find the check, and use ⋯ → **Edit** on the entry, the same as any activity. If you tapped a child who is not actually present, add a correction note rather than deleting the whole check: inspectors prefer a corrected record to a gap.

## If your center turns on reminders

Some centers switch on a reminder: if the children in your room have been there longer than the center's interval with no check saved, you get a push saying a check is due. It only goes to staff who are clocked in, and it never fires for a room with nobody in it. Running a check clears it until the next interval.

## Troubleshooting

**The roster shows the whole room instead of who is checked in.** Presence was still loading when you opened the tile. Close the tile and reopen it, or check the room's attendance card first.

**"No children are checked in to this room right now."** Nobody has been checked in yet today for this room. Check the children in first, then run the check.

**A child who arrived is missing from the roster.** They were checked in to a different room or center. Check the attendance card, then move them or check them in here.
