Emails from your daycare
Your daycare can email you directly through NestliCare. What those emails look like, how to reply so the right person gets it, and how to spot a fake.
Besides messages in the app, newsletters, and invoices, your daycare can send you a plain email through NestliCare: a supplies request, a note about your enrollment, something you may want to forward or print. This page covers those emails.
What they look like
- The sender is your daycare's name, sent via NestliCare, and the note is signed by the staff member who wrote it.
- The email opens with "Hi your first name," and is marked "Message to your family, sent via NestliCare".
- The footer tells you who wrote it and that you can reply.
You receive these at the email address on your NestliCare account, once you have accepted your invitation to the app. There is no setting to turn them off; your daycare sends them one at a time, to you, when they have something to say.
Reply
Just hit Reply in your email app and write your answer. It goes to your daycare's NestliCare account, where the staff member who wrote to you (and their admins) can read and answer it, and a copy goes to that person's own inbox. You don't need to sign in to NestliCare to reply.
A few things that help your reply arrive:
- Reply from the same address the email came to. Replies from any other address are discarded, to keep strangers out of your family's conversation. The other parent on your family's account can reply too, from their own account address.
- Attachments are fine. A photo of a form or a document up to 20 MB comes through with your reply.
- Keep replying in the same email thread if the conversation continues. Each reply lands in the same conversation on the daycare's side.
If the daycare answers from NestliCare, their answer arrives as another email from the daycare's name, and you reply the same way.
When to use the app instead
For a quick back-and-forth with a teacher, or anything you want to see alongside your child's day, use Messages in the app: see Message a teacher. Email is better for things you want in your own mailbox.
Is this email really from my daycare?
A real NestliCare email from your daycare:
- Comes from your daycare's name, and the footer says it was sent via NestliCare.
- Never asks you to pay, sign in, or enter card or personal details through a link in the email. Invoices are paid inside the app, on the Payments screen.
If an email claims to be from your daycare and asks for any of that, don't click the link. Tell your daycare, and let us know at [email protected].
Other emails you might get
- Newsletters arrive by email and in your app feed; you can turn the email copy off. See Newsletters and announcements.
- Invoices and receipts come from NestliCare on your daycare's behalf and are handled in the app. See Pay an invoice.
- Forms and documents your daycare asks for arrive by email with a link to the form. If your daycare sends a form back with a note, replying to that email reaches the staff member who reviewed it. See Fill out a form from your daycare.
