Log a whole stretch of the day with Quick log
Say or type what happened ("everyone ate lunch, Emma only some, all napped 1 to 2:30, changed Liam twice") and review the drafted entries, and any milestone observations, before you save them.
Quick log turns one spoken or typed note into a batch of activity entries. It is for the moment after lunch or after nap when six things happened and you don't want to tap through six forms. Nothing is saved until you have looked at every entry and tapped Save all.
Where it is
Quick log lives inside the normal activity logger, so it works the same way for teachers and for admins who do their own logging.
- iOS and Android: Dashboard tab → Log Activity → the Quick log row at the top of the sheet.
- Web: the Quick log row at the top of the activity logger on the Dashboard, on the Daily Activities page, and in Room Mode.
If you don't see the row, your daycare has not turned on NestliCare's AI features. An owner can ask us to enable them; there is no charge.
Log a stretch of the day

Open the activity logger and tap Quick log.

Speak or type what happened, in your own words. For example:
Everyone ate all of lunch, chicken and rice, Emma only some. All napped from 1 to 2:30. Changed Liam twice, wet then BM. Noah was fussy after nap. Zoe did water play outside.
On a phone, the microphone button listens and writes what you say into the box. Speech is turned into text on the phone itself; the audio never leaves the device. If your phone can't do that, the microphone is hidden and you can type instead.
The first time, your phone asks for microphone and speech permission. On iPhone, Apple's own wording on that prompt mentions sending speech data to Apple; that is Apple's standard text for every app. NestliCare asks iOS for on-device recognition only, so with NestliCare the transcription stays on the phone.

Tap Draft entries. After a few seconds you get one card per event: a lunch for the room with Emma's portion set to "some", one nap, two diaper changes for Liam, a mood for Noah, and a "Water play" activity for Zoe.

Check each card. You can remove a card, remove a child from a card, switch Share with parents off, and edit the note. Times show as "at 1:00" when you said one, or "now" when you didn't.

Tap Save all. Each card gets a checkmark as it is saved, then a Logged summary lists what went in. Tap Done.
The entries appear in the room feed and on parents' Home feed exactly as if you had logged them one by one.
Observations come out of the same note
When your note describes a child showing a skill ("Ella held the paintbrush with a proper grip for the first time", "Lucas and Mia took turns without being asked"), Quick log also drafts a milestone observation for that child against one of your learning standards. These appear in their own Observations section under the activity cards, with the milestone it matched, an optional level (emerging, developing, proficient, mastered), and a short note of what the child did.
- Observations are drafted only from something specific a child did or said. Eating, napping and diaper changes never become observations.
- The standard is always one of your daycare's own, or the framework your daycare already uses. If your daycare has not used a framework yet, the NestliCare developmental milestones for the child's age are used.
- Observations are not shared with parents unless you switch that on for the card. They feed the child's developmental record and your curriculum binder.
- Change the level, edit the note, or remove the card before you save. If the matched milestone is not the right one, remove the card and log the observation from the week plan instead.
- Find them afterwards under Observations: on the phone, the eye button on your week plan (teachers) or Admin → Curriculum → Observations (admins); on the web, Curriculum → Observations. You can change the level, edit the note, share it with parents, or remove it. You can edit your own observations; an admin can edit anyone's.
What it can and can't do
- It only uses your roster. Children are matched against the room you have open (or the rooms you are scheduled in today). A name it can't match, or that fits two children, is listed under Couldn't place instead of being guessed. Add that one by hand.
- "Everyone" means the children checked in right now. If nobody is checked in yet, it means the whole room.
- It never checks anyone in or out. Attendance is a licensing record and stays with the check-in screen, the kiosk, and the parent app.
- It never takes a photo, runs a name-to-face check, or sends a pickup or supply request. Those stay on their own tiles.
- It records what you said. It won't add a mood, a food, or a time you didn't mention. Meals with no meal named default to the meal for that time of day, so say "snack" if it was one.
- Your own activity tiles are used. If your daycare has a "Water play" tile, the entry files under it.
Limits
Each person can draft about 150 notes a day. That is a full day of logging with room to spare, and it exists so one busy account can't run up the daycare's shared AI budget. If you hit it, the button tells you, and it resets at midnight UTC.
