Announcement or newsletter, which should I send?
Short and timely for everyone, a center, or a room is an announcement. A longer titled update that is also emailed is a newsletter. One family is a message.
Send an announcement for something short and timely, and a newsletter for a longer update you also want in parents' inboxes.
- Short, timely ("Closed Friday for snow", "Picture day Tuesday"): an announcement. Send it to everyone, one center, or specific rooms. Parents see it in the app and get a notification. Teachers can post announcements to their own rooms too.
- Longer update (the monthly roundup, curriculum themes, a welcome letter): a newsletter. It's a title plus plain text. It shows in the app feed and is emailed to parents once email sending is switched on for your daycare. Newsletters are for admins.
- For one family: neither. That is a message, a private thread. Never use an announcement for something meant for one household.
- A child's moment-to-moment day: the feed, which teachers fill as the day happens. You never "send" it.
